On the afternoon of March 11, the 40th Anniversary Lecture Series of Shenzhen University and the Lecture No. 160 of the Forum of Shenzhen University began in Conference Room 2623, Huiwen Building, Yuehai Campus. Professor Xiang Jiuyu, a professor and doctoral supervisor of Wuhan University, a distinguished professor of Cheung Kong Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education, and an expert entitled to the special allowance of the State Council, gave an excellent lecture as the keynote speaker on the theme of Three Systems of Chinese Path to Modernization to the teachers and students of Shenzhen University. The lecture was hosted by Sun Tingting,Deputy Dean of the Marxism College of Shenzhen University, and a number of teachers and students attended the lecture and participated in the discussion.
During the lecture, Professor Xiang Jiuyu first elaborated the central task of the CPC and the development process, Chinese characteristics, essential requirements, strategic arrangements, major principles, and significance of the Chinese path to modernization. The professor explained that the Chinese path to modernization, as a major theoretical innovation of the 20th NCCPC of China, has provided powerful theoretical persuasiveness, broken the myth of “modernization equals westernization”, created a new development route of Chinese path to modernization, constructed a new theoretical model of Chinese path to modernization, and created a new practical model of Chinese path to modernization.
Then Professor Xiang Jiuyu gave a detailed interpretation of the Chinese path to modernization with the three parts, including the knowledge system, value system andinstitutional system. The first is the knowledge system of the Chinese path to modernization. Specifically, it includes the construction of basic modernization issues and research paradigms, the formation of core concepts and academic propositions, and the revelation of historical trends and basic laws. The second is the value system of the Chinese path to modernization. The value system established by the practice of the Chinese path to modernization is a whole and system composed of value goals, value orientations, and value criteria. It is specifically reflected in three aspects: putting the people first being the fundamental value pursuit of the Chinese path to modernization, leading the practice of Chinese path to modernization with social core values, and forming the spiritual consciousness of Chinese civilization towards modernization. The third is the institutional system of Chinese path to modernization. The construction of the institutional system of Chinese path to modernization must focus on the important tasks of modernization, establish an institutional system to promote the modernization of national governance, material production and social construction, and serve the practical needs of modernization. In summary, the knowledge system, value system and institutional system constitute an organic whole.The knowledge system serves as the basis, the value system as the core, and the institutional system as the foundation. The three systems complement each other and are inseparable,demonstrating the great achievement of the Chinese path to modernization.
When talking about the future outlook of the Chinese path to modernization, Professor Xiang Jiuyu stressed that we should rethink the “Seven Relationships”, pay attention to the timing of modernization, spatial adaptability, self-assertion, goal orientation, human care and world significance, strengthen the construction of a better world, develop a better country, build a better society and create a better life, and realize the comprehensive promotion of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with the Chinese path to modernization.
Professor Xiang Jiuyu's lecture was rich in content, rigorous in logic,insightful in perspective, and closely related to reality. Henot only deeply elaborated the theoretical system of the Chinese path to modernization, but also provided guidance on the methods and skills of topic selection and writing of academic papers taking account of the hot spots of the times and theoretical frontiers.The audience includingteahcers and students raised questions around the theme of the lecture, and Professor Xiang provided detailed answersto each one. At the end of the lecture, Sun Tingting,Deputy Dean of the Marxism College, thanked Professor Xiang Jiuyu for his wonderful presentation and made a summary speech, pointing out that it was an academic lecture with broad vision, novel views and rich connotation, which provided a brand new perspective for us to understand the spirit of the 20th NCCPC and the Chinese path to modernization. During the whole lecture, Professor Xiang probed into the background of the Chinese path to modernization with abundant facts, rigorous logic and unique perspective of thinking, explored the theoretical logic, system construction and future trend of the Chinese path to modernization, and provided significant inspiration and guidance for us to deepen the academic research, academic interpretation and mass communication of the spirit of the 20th NCCPC, andtounderstand this innovative theory of the Chinese path to modernization. The lectureended successfully with enthusiastic discussions and applause from all teachers and students.
